Catechism

As it is elsewhere mentioned, our Community’s primary goal, according to the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain Constitution, is “to preserve and propagate the Orthodox Christian Faith and traditions…”, as well as, “to minister to the people [of God] through”, among others, “sermons and catechism … schools” (Constitution, article 1, paras 1 and 2)

Under the term “preserve” it is meant a continuous confirmation of and an effort to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the true orthodox faith for the already baptized. These are the spiritually reborn through the sanctified waters of the baptismal font and the “engaged” to Jesus Christ through chrismation on a perspective of an eternal marriage to Him. These are the introductory sacraments into the knowledge of God, so as the faithful start to live with Him and for Him. But they have to be coupled with a continuous and resolute will of the faithful to strive against the “old self”, keep the garment of baptism undefiled and ceaselessly aim at seeing God’s promise fulfilled (this is what “engagement” means in Greek). Which is, that they, upon having observed God’s commandments and shown an uncompromising love to Him and every “other”, will partake in the eternal wedding of the Lamb to the Church as Its members and Jesus’s other better halves also (Apoc., 19, 7)

Under the word “propagate” it is meant the everyday struggle of the already baptized and chrismated to become bigger or smaller “apostles” and “evangelists” of the true faith to those who are ignorant of it. So that the latter’s darkness becomes light, their sadness happiness, their bitterness sweetness, their sins and passions a thing of the past. The already baptized and chrismated, as long as they live by God, observe His commandments, and experience who He is and how He has transformed their life, cannot keep this new life and experience to themselves. They are burning to share it with others. Not to make own fans from them; but in order to see those in the darkness come up to the Light, save their souls, become brothers and sisters with them, and equally partake in the Lamb’s wedding to the Church.

It is by this spirit and in compliance with our mother Archdiocese’s Constitution that our Community strives to “preserve” and “propagate” the true Orthodox faith in a variety of ways among members and members-to-be, that is already-baptized and baptized-to-be. One of the ways, it is this website, hosting, among other things, texts, presentations, audios and videos, which aspire to present, analyze, explain and “sow” into minds and hearts of the readers the basics of our faith and ways they should and could practice it.
